Welcome Amigos

This is Leo Carillo park.  An interesting place to explore - this is an old ranch that was opened to the public with  trails, gardens and peacocks to check out.

Little pink house

My daughter thinks this is her dream home.  She points it out every time we drive by and asks me if the people that live there will let her live there when she is a dolt (adult).

Tequila

I went to El Callejon in Encinitas tonight to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday.  We had margaritas and good food.  Mostly tacos and rajas and yummy chipotle sauces.  Since it was her birthday she wanted to go big.   She had a tequila shot.  There was talk of leaving cars for the night and taking taxis home or calling husbands to pick us up after a wild night....but alas, we are moms of young children and we were all home and sober by 9:30.  We tried.

Family Style

This is a restaurant called Tommy V's located in the Bressi Ranch area of Carlsbad.  Last year, this was the setting for a reality show called Family Style on the Food Network.  It followed the brother/sister owners of the restaurant. I am not sure if the show is coming back for another season but we enjoyed watching it just because we recognized all the locations.

Balloons at the park

This daily photo blog has not been so daily for me.  I am really impressed at all the daily photo blogs that are actually updated daily.   I will get there....I hope!

Hummingbirds

Humming birds are very common around here.  I found this nest in the neighborhood.  These eggs are so small.  I had to take the picture quick because Mama bird came home and was not happy to find me near her babies.

Mineral Water

Apparently at one point in time, Carlsbad was famous for it's mineral water.  The man who discovered the source of the mineral water is also one of the founder's of the City of Carlsbad.  Who knew?  I didn't.  Until I saw this statue just a few blocks from the main downtown area.  His name is John A. Frazier.  The mineral water source has been re-opened and you can get your fill here.  I'll have to try this out some day.

Hiking

This is a great time to hike around Carlsbad.  The weather is beautiful, there is actually green grass to be found and best of all...the snakes are still sleeping.  At least for a few more weeks I hope.  Green hills + blue skies = happiness.  This picture is from some trails at the end of Camino Junipero.

Sunrise

Sometimes when you have two kids nights don't go as planned and you find yourself awake at two in the morning and then again at three and then four.  By 4:30, I just got up and started my day.  Here is a picture in the neighborhood at sunrise.

View from the zoo

Wow.  I really dropped the ball in 2011.  House guests and a dead computer are my excuses.  The sun is finally shining again so we had to make the most of it with a trip to the San Diego Zoo.  Here is a view of downtown from the Skyfari.
